Includes Licenses with 300+ Local News Outlets, Producing Authoritative, Brand-Safe & Ad-Free Video

PHILADELPHIA–(BUSINESS WIRE)–

Critical Mention has reached an agreement with Clip Syndicate to license 300+ local TV stations, newspapers and wire services for the launch of Clip Premium, a video platform that allows brands to embed their media coverage without ads for use on their mobile and web channels.

The announcement was made at the Public Relations Society of America’s International Conference in Philadelphia ( #PRSAICON ). Organizations using Clip Premium range from Fortune 500 corporations like The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company to the medical society representing foot doctors, the American Association of Podiatric Medicine.

“A major frustration for those working in integrated communications, marketing and PR programs has been an inability to secure rights to publish local TV news coverage,” said Dave Armon, president of Critical Mention. “Clip Premium solves that by providing access to thousands of timely, journalist- produced TV news clips each day on top of 3 million evergreen stories in 300 categories ranging from electric cars to school sports events.”

Clip Premium content providers include more than 250 local TV affiliates, including those serving U.S. Hispanic audiences, select international newswire services, and 50+ daily newspapers that produce video packages to accompany print and online articles.

News outlets participating in Clip Premium benefit through monetization of recently aired and published news segments that either directly mention a brand, or focus on a topic of interest to consumer and B2B brands, as well as NGOs and associations.

“The Goodyear Blimp receives tons of positive coverage from local market TV and newspapers, and Clip Premium has made it possible for us to license many of those video news segments so they can be displayed on the goodyearblimp.com site,” said Keith Price, director of National Media Relations and Business Communications.

A benefit to Goodyear is not having to link to a TV station website. Many brands are reluctant to send traffic to external sites, where links may be dead or content may be surrounded by competitive ads and off-message news stories. Goodyear supplements its local earned media TV coverage with segments the tire maker produces, co-mingling the content in the same branded Clip Premium player, said Price.

The American Association of Podiatric Medicine uses Clip Premium to post local podiatrists who appear on local TV newscasts about foot health.
